Get started with Lume.

Install Helio on your Windows PC, then use the PWA or one of the beta native clients. Here is what is actually supported.

Quick start

Lume is three components. Helio installs on the machine hosting your games, Lume carries the stream, Nyx displays it on the remote device. The remote PC gaming guide explains the complete path.

0. The beta is invite-only. With your code, create your account first (email + password).

1. On your Windows PC, download and install Helio. On first launch, Helio automatically opens a page showing an 8-character pairing code.

2. On your phone, tablet or browser, open Nyx, choose “Connect my PC” and type that code. Your PC is linked to your account.

3. Your PC shows up in the app: start a session. The PWA needs no client-side install. By invitation, iOS/tvOS use private TestFlight and Android/Android TV uses the private Google test; the apps are not publicly listed.

Tip: add the page to your iOS home screen for a full-screen launch with no Safari bar.

How it works

Helio captures the frame and encodes it in H.264 or HEVC according to proven PC and client capabilities. AV1 is an explicit Lab choice on compatible hardware. The primary stream uses WebRTC with Opus audio.

WebRTC attempts a direct connection. If it fails, TURN can relay the media. Performance depends on the PC, decoder, network and the ICE path actually selected.

Supported devices

The PWA targets Safari on iPhone/iPad, Chrome on Android, and modern browsers on Mac/PC. Actual support depends on the codecs offered by the browser and hardware decoder; H.264 is the baseline, HEVC is not universal, and AV1 remains in the Lab. See the browser, iPhone/iPad and TV guides.

The Swift iOS/tvOS clients are distributed through private TestFlight and Kotlin Android/Android TV through the private Google test, by invitation. They are not publicly listed. The PWA remains immediately available.

Host side: Helio on Windows 10/11 remains the complete path. A technical Helio macOS beta exists for Apple Silicon with H.264/HEVC, audio and input, without virtual display or Windows launchers. Consoles are not supported as sources.

Network & relay

No inbound port forwarding is required. Helio and the client establish outbound WebRTC/TURN connections. The relay helps behind some NAT and CGNAT setups, but a firewall that blocks those outbound paths can prevent a session.

The beta is currently free locally and remotely. The relay has an infrastructure cost, but no commercial price has been announced at this stage.

Security

Media is encrypted in transport: DTLS-SRTP for WebRTC and TLS for WSS paths. Lume does not record or store session video or audio. See the privacy policy for details.

Troubleshooting

Frozen image or audio after sleep, a locked screen or a background tab? Return to the app, then restart the session if automatic recovery does not complete. Black screen or “PC unreachable”? Check Helio is running on the PC (taskbar icon) and restart it if needed. These transitions remain instrumented during the beta.
