Audio restored on Anbernic RG557 with Helio 0.1.81

The issue appeared when Windows output was not set to 48 kHz. The fix was validated on the tester’s device, with a deliberately narrow scope.

Symptom

Working video and controls, but no client audio

The Anbernic RG557 session lost audio when the host PC’s Windows output was not configured at 48 kHz. The format-dependent behavior pointed to host-side audio preparation rather than a general client speaker failure.

Diagnosis

Do not assume Windows already supplies the expected format

Windows devices expose multiple sample rates. A robust chain must accept the actual source format and convert where needed. Temporarily selecting 48 kHz helped confirm the cause but was not an acceptable product fix.

Fix

Helio 0.1.81 normalizes the affected audio path

Version 0.1.81 removes the dependency on that manual setting for the reproduced case. The tester confirmed audio on the same RG557 configuration.

Validation

Fixed on one tester device does not mean fixed everywhere

The validation does not cover every Windows driver, sample rate, PWA or Android device. Reports should include client model, Helio version, Windows output format and web/native path.
